Basic Blue

This is our most basic plan designed to cover ambulance and hospital benefits only. It is ideal for people living in care facilities or rural areas who are primarily concerned about ambulance and medical transfer costs. Benefits include:

  • Emergency ambulance
  • Treat and release coverage
  • Air ambulance
  • Non-emergency medical transfer
  • Semi-private hospital room
  • Hostel care

Eligibility

  • Available to all residents of Manitoba covered by Manitoba Health.
  • No age limit and no medical examination required.
  • Family coverage includes the applicant, spouse (or common-law spouse) and eligible dependent children (unmarried and unemployed) up to the age of 21.
  • A minimum cohabitation period of one year is required for a common-law spouse.
  • To be eligible, your spouse (or common-law spouse) and eligible dependents must be listed on the application.

When Will My Coverage Become Effective?

Coverage will become effective the first of the month following three months from the date the application is received.

Example:

  • Application received January 12
  • Three months later April 12
  • Coverage effective May 1

If you are a new resident to Manitoba, or have recently lost benefits with an employer group, please contact our office as enrollment procedures may differ.

You can purchase a Blue Cross plan online, in person at our offices, or the general insurance agent in your area.
